Wangaratta’s baseball and softball community will receive a significant boost with a $350,000 grant from the Victorian Government’s Regional Community sports Infrastructure Fund for an LED lighting upgrade at Targoora Park. This funding will benefit the Wangaratta Rangers Baseball & Softball Club and other local leagues by enabling increased evening training and competitions, particularly focusing on promoting female participation in sports. The project aligns with the Council’s Fair Play and Gender Equity Plan (2025–2027) to enhance access and inclusivity in sports. Mayor Irene Grant emphasized the upgrade’s importance for local clubs and the community, highlighting its potential to improve facility access and support the region’s sporting growth. This initiative is part of a broader $24 million investment aimed at enhancing regional sports infrastructure across Victoria.
