Colchester is set to undergo a major transformation with the unveiling of updated plans for a £7 million regeneration project, shaped by over 800 contributions from residents and local businesses. Funded by a government grant, the initiative aims to revitalize the city’s southern quarter alongside the £12 million St Botolph’s Circus redevelopment. Key features include improved access to St Botolph’s Priory, enhanced public spaces, and safety measures like better lighting and CCTV. Designed with inclusivity in mind, the project involves collaboration with various community groups and heritage organizations, ensuring the preservation of the city’s significant historical elements. The new public space will celebrate local heritage and is slated to be named St Botolph’s Square, with final designs expected before planning submissions in July.
