Taunton Vale sports Club has been awarded a significant grant of £273,000 as part of Sport England’s Improvement Fund, which aims to enhance the sustainability of community sports projects. This funding round, focusing on medium-sized initiatives, includes 28 projects that will benefit from capital grants of £150,000 to £500,000. The grants are intended to improve facility efficiency and reduce energy costs, with claims that clubs can lower their energy bills by 10-20% through these upgrades. Taunton Vale plans to refurbish its hockey pitch and install energy-efficient LED lighting across various facilities, enhancing both environmental sustainability and local community quality of life. Other funded projects include a energy efficiency upgrade at Peckham Pulse in Southwark. Overall, the Improvement Fund will invest £45 million of National Lottery funding into sports projects through 2017.
