In 2023, Mykolaiv undertook a significant upgrade to its outdoor lighting by replacing 9,000 sodium lamps with energy-efficient LED lights, resulting in a notable savings of 34% in budget expenditures. This initiative was discussed in a recent city council meeting led by Deputy Director of Housing and Urban Development Ihor Nabatov, who emphasized ongoing maintenance efforts and future plans to enhance the city’s energy efficiency through grant participation. Residents are encouraged to report any non-working lamps to the city hall’s contact center to assist in maintaining the improved lighting system. Additionally, Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych previously indicated that funding for street lighting would remain adequate until year’s end, while future plans include a complete transition to LED technology to further reduce electricity consumption.
