Samsung Display has announced its intention to showcase its groundbreaking OLED technology, featuring a maximum brightness of 5,000 nits, at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2025 (MWC25) on March 3. This advanced OLED is based on the innovative polarizer-less on-cell film (OCF) technology, which offers enhanced outdoor visibility, reduces power consumption, and allows for ultra-slim designs. OCF technology, initially applied to foldable smartphones, is being adapted for bar-type smartphones and rollable laptops. The new panels boast impressive peak brightness levels while consuming significantly less energy than traditional displays, representing a major leap in display efficiency and design flexibility. Joohyung Lee, Head of Mobile Display business at Samsung Display, emphasized the importance of aligning with L.E.A.D. principles—Low Power Consumption, Eco-friendliness, Augmented Brightness, and Slim Design—while positioning OCF technology as a key player in the future of display innovation. Attendees at MWC25 will have the opportunity to experience these advanced display capabilities firsthand.
