Local High School Designated as FIFA World Cup Training Venue Seeks Approval for 40 to 100-Foot Tall Lights at Athletic Fields

Episcopal High School in Alexandria has received approval to become a training site for a team participating in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. To support this, the school plans to install 47 field lighting poles, ranging from 40 to 100 feet tall, across various athletic facilities, including soccer, baseball, and tennis courts. The multi-year capital improvement project aims to enhance the school’s outdoor athletic areas while adhering to environmentally friendly lighting standards. City Council is set to consider the proposal during a hearing on May 17.
