School Board Appoints New Member to Fill Vacant Position

In a special meeting on Wednesday, the West Branch Board of Education appointed Debbie Helm to fill a vacant board position left by Aaron Hawk’s recent resignation. Helm, a long-time resident with deep ties to the community—including having children and grandchildren in the school district—emphasized her desire to give back as she nears retirement from Copeland Oaks. She was chosen unanimously from a pool of eight candidates. The board also approved contracts for a new turf field at Heacock stadium and lighting upgrades, both funded by private donations. The next board meeting is scheduled for May 22.
