In a significant advancement for the UK Biobank and Bruntwood SciTech, a key milestone was reached in the development of a new hub in Manchester’s knowledge quarter, set to enhance the region’s scientific research capabilities. The Greenheys site, led by Willmott Dixon, will offer 131,000 sq ft of specialized lab and workspace by Summer 2026, including advanced CL2 labs and sustainable features aimed at achieving net-zero construction and operation. The facility will bolster UK Biobank’s capacity to supply biological samples to researchers and foster collaborations with local academic institutions. The project also emphasizes community engagement, having already created jobs and provided training opportunities. Notable figures from various partner organizations attended a recent topping-out ceremony, celebrating the convergence of scientific innovation and local growth.
