Girsh Park Unveils ‘Ditch the Diesel’ Initiative to Support LED Lighting for Soccer Fields
Girsh Park has launched a fundraising campaign titled “Ditch the Diesel!” to raise funds for the installation of permanent LED lights at the Girsh Hochman soccer Field, aiming to replace the current diesel generator lights that have been in use for years. The campaign has successfully raised $100,000 toward its $200,000 goal, with construction planned for August 2025, contingent on meeting the fundraising target. Executive Director Ryan Harrington emphasized the need for a sustainable upgrade, highlighting that the new lighting will reduce both noise and air pollution while improving the experience for local soccer programs.
