On May 16th, Zillah Mayor Dr. Scott Carmack and School District Superintendent Doug Burge unveiled plans for the Zillah sports Hub, a multi-sport complex to be built on 23.83 acres of district-owned land at 1171 Cutler Way. Designed for year-round use, the facility will feature synthetic turf fields for various sports, enhanced by stadium lighting to extend recreational hours. Mayor Carmack emphasized the project’s community-driven nature, addressing the local demand for more athletic fields, while Superintendent Burge highlighted its alignment with the district’s mission to support students both academically and athletically. The proposed hub aims not only to enhance youth sports opportunities but also to attract regional events that could bolster the local economy through increased tourism. Construction will proceed in two phases, starting with temporary grass fields for city leagues, with a long-term goal of completing the full complex by 2030. Community input will remain a priority throughout the development process, making the hub a potential centerpiece for local sports and community engagement.
