Stargazing Event Scheduled for Tonight in Keswick

As part of the Keswick Big Switch Off, streetlights in the Lake Road area will be turned off starting at 9:30 PM on Monday, inviting residents and businesses to join in turning off lights overnight to appreciate the starry night sky. The Cockermouth Astronomical Society will provide telescopes in Crow Park for the public to explore the universe. This initiative, supported by multiple local organizations including Cumberland Council and the National Trust, aims to raise awareness about the importance of dark skies, reduce light pollution, and promote energy conservation. Participants are encouraged to bring their own binoculars and telescopes, and no prior booking is required.
