Illuminating the Great North with the eVinci® Microreactor

A delegation of mining and community leaders from northern Canada recently visited Westinghouse’s eVinci Microreactor Technology Hub in Pittsburgh, exploring the potential of next-generation nuclear technology. Led by the NWT & Nunavut Chamber of Mines, the group included representatives from major mining firms and Indigenous associations, focusing on innovative energy solutions to address the unique challenges of the Canadian North. The eVinci microreactor, noted for its small footprint and efficiency, aims to reduce energy costs and enhance heat security, with the first deployment planned for Saskatchewan by 2030. Discussions highlighted the importance of public education on nuclear energy to garner support for this promising technology.
