Chinese researchers, led by Professor Xiao Zhengguo from the University of Science and Technology of China, have made a significant breakthrough in perovskite technology, addressing longstanding challenges with electron and hole recombination that limit the performance of perovskite-based LEDs. Their innovative method for fabricating all-inorganic perovskite films results in larger crystal grains and enhanced heat resistance, achieving an impressive LED brightness of 1.16 million nits and extending operational lifespans beyond 180,000 hours. This advancement in luminous efficiency, surpassing 22%, positions the new perovskite LEDs as viable alternatives to current commercial displays, suitable for demanding applications such as outdoor lighting. With improved stability and longevity, these LEDs are set to revolutionize the display and lighting industries.
