Foley is enhancing its downtown appeal and public safety by adding LED halo lights to oak trees along key streets, following a recent City Council approval. The installations on Orange Avenue and Alston Street, including new fixtures in front of the Foley Public Library, represent the second phase of a broader beautification initiative aimed at improving visibility while highlighting the city’s iconic oak-lined walkways. Mayor Ralph Hellmich emphasized that the tree lighting not only beautifies downtown but also provides energy-efficient ambient lighting. With elevated fixtures designed to minimize vandalism, these halo lights create a warm glow that enhances sidewalks and public areas, with future installations planned at the intersection of South Alston Street and West Orange Avenue.
