Illuminating the Night with Red, White, and Blue

The Albert Habhab Veterans Memorial Bridge in Fort Dodge has been enhanced with red, white, and blue lights adorning its 15 lamp posts, marking a patriotic addition that first illuminated the bridge on Monday night. Led by Navy veteran Mike Larson, the initiative aims to honor veterans more prominently following the bridge’s recent renaming in honor of Albert Habhab, a WWII Army veteran and former Fort Dodge mayor, who passed away in early 2024. The project, which includes illuminated banners and additional features to be completed by this Veterans Day, relies solely on donations, totaling an estimated $1.5 million, with the public response described as “extremely positive.”
