A joint meeting between Cochin Smart Mission Ltd (CSML) and the Kochi corporation aimed at resolving ongoing streetlight issues ended without decisive outcomes, as the absence of Mayor M Anilkumar and Deputy Mayor drew sharp criticism from opposition members and councillors. The meeting revealed ongoing complaints about non-functioning LED lights, with CSML officials admitting that 2,500 meters of LED installations remain unfinished and no maintenance contracts are in place. Opposition leader Antony Kureethara condemned the project’s delays, which have incurred a cost of Rs 40 crore, while suggestions for public reporting of faulty lights were dismissed by CSML as unfeasible. The meeting concluded with a commitment to reconvene with the mayor, who is currently undergoing treatment.
