Liberty Hill has officially been named an International Dark Sky Community by DarkSky International, marking it as the first such designation in Williamson County and the 23rd in Texas. This achievement reflects the city’s commitment to preserving its nighttime beauty amid rapid development, a mission spearheaded by the grassroots volunteer group, Liberty Hill Save Our Stars. Since forming in 2020, the group collaborated with local officials to implement a lighting ordinance aimed at reducing light pollution. With a population exceeding 13,700, Liberty Hill balances its recent growth with efforts to maintain its historic charm and vibrant small-town culture. Moving forward, the city plans to continue initiatives that promote responsible lighting and community engagement, solidifying its dedication to protecting the night sky for future generations.
