Plans are underway to install “gull wing-shaped” solar panels above parking spaces at Telford’s Princess Royal Hospital as part of a £17 million green initiative aimed at saving £1 million annually in energy costs and cutting carbon emissions by over 3,000 tonnes. The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust has submitted detailed technical drawings provided by ZLC Energy to local planners. These metal-framed canopies will be positioned on the northwest side of the hospital’s car park, with the closest neighbor being Severn Hospice. Assistant Chief Executive Inese Robotham highlighted that the project not only promises significant energy savings but also aims to redirect resources toward frontline care.
