Tridonic Dresden and Fraunhofer COMEDD Unveil Versatile OLED Desk Light

Tridonic Dresden, formerly LEDON OLED lighting, in collaboration with Fraunhofer COMEDD, has unveiled a desk luminaire featuring flexible OLED technology at the Plastic Electronics 2013. This innovation stems from the R2Flex project, which aimed to develop high-efficiency organic devices on flexible substrates using roll-to-roll processing. Funded by Germany’s Federal Ministry for Education and Research with approximately 11 million Euros over 2.5 years, the project successfully transitioned OLED production to cost-effective metal foils. Key advancements include enhanced deposition techniques for complex OLED structures and improved methods for electrical integration with flexible substrates. The resultant desk luminaire showcases the capabilities of the flexible OLED, combining both straight and curved design elements to highlight its versatility.
