The street lighting project, part of the canal’s development plan, was expected to enhance safety and attract visitors, but delays have left the area dark and uninviting. Locals report a rise in littering and alcohol consumption in the absence of illumination, adversely affecting the once-popular boating services and evening gatherings. Mayor Subhash Singh acknowledged the setbacks, citing technical issues but assured that lighting would be operational starting Wednesday, promising to restore the area’s charm and safety for families and tourists.
