Leamington’s Royal Spa Centre is undergoing a complete LED lighting upgrade aimed at reducing its electricity consumption by 30%. This arts venue, which attracts over 95,000 visitors annually with a wide range of events, has replaced its traditional lighting, including specialized stage lights, with energy-efficient LEDs. The initiative is expected to save 67,000 kWh of electricity each year, yielding nearly 14 tonnes of carbon savings and approximately £17,000 in annual electricity costs. Warwick District Council’s decarbonisation spokesperson, Coun Lowell Williams, emphasized that this upgrade not only lowers emissions and expenses but also enhances the visitor experience with advanced lighting technology. The council plans to continue improving energy efficiency across its buildings as part of its Low Cost, Low Carbon energy programme.
