New LED Streetlights Disturb Basel Residents’ Sleep, Causing Frustration

Residents in Basel are expressing concerns over the city’s plan to replace approximately 13,000 streetlights with bright LED fixtures by 2028, citing disturbances to sleep caused by the new lighting. Many describe the lights as excessively bright, comparing them to “kitchen lighting,” and are unhappy with the absence of the warm glow from the previous lamps.
