Several Richardson candle lamps, originally installed on the streets of Cambridge in the 1950s, have been reported missing in what Heritage England has termed a “heritage crime.” The lanterns were last seen between September 13 and October 1, 2024, on St John’s Street and Trumpington Street. Investigating officer PC Thomas Woollard from the North Herts Neighbourhood Policing Team indicated that most of the stolen items may be from the surrounding areas of Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Bedfordshire, potentially taken within the last six months. Authorities have initiated significant investigations and are collaborating with local councils and Heritage England to recover the items. They encourage anyone who believes they might own one of the stolen lamps to reach out for assistance.
