Becket Town Meeting Approves Nighttime Outdoor Lighting Bylaw and Budget

At the annual town meeting in Becket, 173 voters gathered to discuss various issues, ultimately postponing several significant decisions to a special meeting after over four hours of debate. Notably, voters approved a bylaw regulating outdoor lighting to minimize light pollution, albeit by a narrow margin. Other postponed matters included zoning changes for accessory dwelling units and proposals related to the Becket Country Store, such as an electric vehicle charging station and a farmers market. The meeting also saw unanimous approvals for the town’s operating budget of $7.76 million and various capital expenditures, including funds for the Becket Athenaeum and assessment software upgrades.
