The Utah office of Tourism has officially designated Bluff as its newest International Dark Sky Community, recognizing its commitment to preserving its pristine night skies. Located in southeastern Utah, Bluff boasts stunning red rock landscapes and serves as a gateway to significant sites like Bears Ears National Monument and Monument Valley. The community joins other recognized locations, such as Moab and several national parks, in promoting dark sky initiatives. To earn this certification, Bluff implemented a strict exterior lighting ordinance and partnered with the Bears Ears Partnership to provide educational programs and sky quality monitoring. To celebrate this achievement, Bluff will host a Dark Sky Festival on November 14-15, highlighting the importance of night sky preservation for both tourism and community prosperity.
