Toronto’s BMO Field is set for significant renovations ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will see the stadium host six matches, including Canada’s opener on June 12. The upgrades, revealed during an announcement attended by local officials, include an increased capacity for 45,000 spectators, new LED scoreboards, enhanced lighting, audio systems, WiFi, and self-service concession technology. The City of Toronto is investing $123 million into the project, with additional contributions from other entities and federal funding confirmed. The renovations aim to provide a lasting legacy for both fans and the local economy, projected to generate $940 million in economic impact for the Greater Toronto Area. Mayor Olivia Chow encouraged visitors to extend their stay for a fan fest, emphasizing Toronto’s vibrant cultural diversity and community spirit.
