Bowman Gray stadium is undertaking significant facility upgrades to prepare for its hosting of the NASCAR Cup Series racing in 2025, including the installation of a new Musco lighting system and SAFER barriers. Funded by the North Carolina Motorsports Relief Fund, the new LED lighting will feature advanced controls for special effects, similar to those used at Martinsville Speedway. Work on the lighting is set to commence in December, while the installation of SAFER barriers, which began last month, is scheduled for completion by early January. NASCAR executive Ben Kennedy emphasized the importance of these enhancements for showcasing grassroots and national racing. The quarter-mile track will host its first NASCAR Cup Series event since 1971 with the non-points NASCAR Clash in February 2025, a milestone celebrated by Winston-Salem Mayor Allen Joines and the city’s commitment to enhancing the stadium for future events.
