This month marks the 50th anniversary of the iconic Superdome, a venue steeped in history and remarkable achievements. Notably, it has hosted eight Super Bowls, more than any other stadium, and saw a record 87,500 attendees for a Rolling Stones concert in 1981. The Superdome, measuring 273 feet tall with a diameter of 680 feet, is the largest fixed dome structure in the world, spanning 400,000 square feet under its aluminum roof. It has been home to 13 college football national championships, 229 high school state football championship games, and the Essence Music Festival for over 30 years. The venue has also witnessed dramatic events, such as sheltering 30,000 evacuees during Hurricane Katrina. As it celebrates this milestone, the Superdome continues to be a cornerstone of sports and entertainment in New Orleans.
