Asma Akter and her daughter, Tasin Fahariya, have become inspiring figures in Bangladesh’s agriculture-based light engineering sector following the tragic loss of Asma’s husband to COVID-19. Taking over the family business, Belal Engineering workshop, Asma faced initial challenges, including skepticism from customers and staff due to her leadership as a woman, as well as difficulties in securing financial support. However, Tasin’s training in financial management and marketing, along with securing a $4,300 loan, allowed them to enhance their business operations. By expanding their dealer network and implementing effective branding strategies, their enterprise has seen significant growth, increasing from 10 to 14 dealer points and boosting sales. This mother-daughter duo’s journey not only highlights their resilience and adaptability but also emphasizes the value of diverse perspectives in optimizing manufacturing processes.
