Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt has introduced a draft regulation aimed at controlling the brightness of LED signs to enhance urban livability and address growing complaints about excessive lighting. The proposal, presented during a session of the Bangkok Metropolitan Council, seeks to establish measurable guidelines for light intensity to prevent disturbances, particularly near expressways. Under the new rules, signage brightness will be capped at 5,000 candelas per square meter during daytime and 500 candelas at night. The council has approved the draft and will form a committee to review it within 60 days, ensuring that both public well-being and traffic safety are prioritized.
