In a recent press conference, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora announced that Ludhiana’s municipal corporation (MC) will install 8,200 additional LED streetlights by March 31, building on the existing 1.5 lakh lights already in place. The initiative aims to eliminate dark spots in the city, with 2,200 of the new installations featuring technology to detect theft and technical issues. Arora encouraged residents to report malfunctioning lights through a toll-free number, promising resolutions within 48 hours. He also urged local councillors to cooperate in identifying areas needing light improvements, stating that further installations could occur if residents continue to report dark spots after the new lights are added. The MC is committed to enhancing street lighting infrastructure, having previously installed 9,000 lights last year.
