Western Australia is set to enhance community sport through a new $10 million grant program, the Community Use of School Sporting Facilities (CUSSF) Program. This initiative, announced in December 2024, aims to foster collaboration between public schools and local sporting groups, allowing better access to sporting facilities like courts and ovals outside school hours. Over $1.5 million has already been awarded to 44 schools for essential facility upgrades and equipment improvements across eight sports. The program is part of the Cook Labor Government’s PlayOn WA initiative, designed to promote community engagement and increase participation in grassroots sports. Sport and Recreation Minister Rita Saffioti emphasized the government’s commitment to making sport accessible, while Education Minister Sabine Winton noted the program’s role in strengthening community bonds through shared facilities.
