The Hespeler business Improvement Area (BIA) has received a $25,000 grant from the city’s Core Areas Transformation Fund to fund a vibrant LED lighting installation along the riverside at Jacob’s Landing. The project, which will feature red, green, and blue lights within a pergola, will be matched by an additional $25,000 contribution from the BIA, which is also responsible for ongoing maintenance. While council members expressed concerns about accessibility and potential interactions with a proposed relocation of a dovecote tower, they unanimously supported the grant. Councilor Helen Shwery highlighted the anticipated beauty of the installation, especially at night, enhancing the area for residents and visitors alike.
