Stargazers visiting the Keweenaw Peninsula this winter can enjoy a unique experience at the newly designated Keweenaw Dark Sky Park, where crimson solar-powered lights illuminate trails leading to optimal sky-watching locations. These red lights, designed to preserve night vision, guide visitors to four prime viewing areas where they can marvel at the Milky Way and possibly witness the Northern Lights. The installation of these lights, created by University of Michigan Professor Mojtaba Akhavan-Tafti and his company APT Solar Solutions, aligns with the park’s commitment to dark-sky preservation and offers an enchanting atmosphere for observing the wonders of the universe after dark.
