Cultural Astronomer Danielle Adams Heads Flagstaff Dark Skies Coalition with Bold New Vision

Danielle Adams, Ph.D., has been appointed as the Interim Executive Director of the Flagstaff Dark Skies Coalition (FDSC) during the community’s ongoing Celebration of the Night activities. A cultural astronomer and dark sky advocate, Adams aims to expand the FDSC’s mission of promoting visibility of the Milky Way for everyone, regardless of socioeconomic status. Flagstaff, recognized as the world’s first International Dark Sky City, is highlighted as a successful model in combating light pollution. Adams invites residents to engage with FDSC’s Dark Skies Speaker Series, featuring talks on dark sky preservation and cultural astronomy at Lowell Observatory. Throughout October, local businesses and galleries are also participating in events and exhibitions to promote dark sky awareness.
