Dubai Utility Company to Upgrade Streetlights to LED Technology in 500 Homes

The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has announced a project to replace traditional light bulbs with LED lights in 500 villas across Al Barsha, Al Warqa, and Oud Metha. This initiative marks DEWA’s first collaboration with the Mohammed bin Rashid Housing Establishment (MBRHE) and Etihad Energy Service Company (ESCO). DEWA’s MD and CEO, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, emphasized the importance of cooperation from villa owners to meet energy reduction goals aligned with Dubai’s sustainability vision. The partnership aims to provide 2,000 homes with 160,000 LED bulbs, contributing to the Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030, which targets a 30% reduction in energy consumption. This project supports the UAE’s objective of transforming Dubai into the city with the lowest carbon footprint by 2050.
