Students from the Gallogly College of Engineering at the University of Oklahoma showcased their technical skills by redesigning the iconic Christmas tree at the Chickasha Festival of Light. This collaboration, highlighted by Senior Associate Dean Randa Shehab, allowed engineering students to contribute to a cherished Oklahoma tradition, enhancing the festive experience for thousands. Under faculty guidance, the redesigned tree features advanced smart RGB LED lighting and an improved power distribution system, ensuring reliable performance and safety against winter conditions. Assistant Professor Reza Saeed Kandezy noted that the project incorporated dynamic system theory and machine learning, providing an immersive, responsive display. The festival, which is free to attend, runs through New Year’s Eve. More details can be found at chickashafestivaloflight.org.
