In Burgos, Ilocos Norte, the recently completed access road to the historic Cape Bojeador lighthouse has transformed travel to the landmark, making it both safer and more convenient for residents and tourists. Funded by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) at a cost of PHP 4.7 million, the project features 29 solar-powered streetlights that enhance nighttime visibility and safety. The upgrade addresses previous accessibility challenges, as the narrow, steep road posed dangers for locals, especially fishermen, who previously relied on kerosene lamps. This initiative not only improves local quality of life but also supports the region’s tourism and heritage preservation efforts, reflecting the government’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure and clean energy.
