In Colorado, 15 locations have achieved the prestigious dark sky designation, including six communities like Westcliffe, Silver Cliff, and Crestone, recognized for their commitment to preserving starlit skies through strict lighting ordinances and community support. These areas, along with some of the state’s ten designated Dark Sky Parks, offer stunning celestial views, particularly in the high elevations of the Rockies, where the natural beauty of the night sky is well-protected from urban light interference.
