The evolution of LED TV technology is rapidly advancing, spotlighting innovations like Hisense’s TriChroma LED display, showcased at CES 2025. While traditionally, OLED has dominated the discussion about future TV tech, the emergence of TriChroma LED suggests a fierce competition ahead. This new technology employs a unique RGB local dimming approach based on Mini-LED, allowing panels to produce color directly from the source rather than through light filtering, thus achieving remarkable brightness levels—up to 10,000 nits. Although it shares characteristics with other technologies, such as Micro-LED and OLED, TriChroma LED offers a promising alternative, especially in efficiency and potential elimination of blooming effects seen in conventional LED TVs. With the Hisense 116UX currently not yet available for purchase, its successful mass production could signify a pivotal moment for Mini-LED display technology, bridging the gap until Micro-LED becomes more prevalent.
