Flintshire Cricket Club Secures £20,000 Funding to Lower Energy Expenses

Carmel and District Cricket Club is among 97 sports clubs in Wales to receive a share of £1.7 million in energy-saving grants from Sport Wales, aimed at enhancing sustainability within grassroots sports. The club has been awarded £19,598 to implement improvements, including the installation of solar panels, LED lighting, insulation, and heating upgrades at their clubhouse. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enable clubs to reduce energy costs, lower their carbon footprints, and maintain affordable opportunities for community engagement in sports. Sport Wales, alongside the Welsh Government, is committed to supporting the long-term viability of these clubs amidst rising energy costs, with £3.1 million in grants benefiting 175 clubs over the past two years.
