Government Allocates ₹200 Crore for LED Street Lighting in 110 Urban Areas of Odisha

The Odisha Cabinet has approved a proposal to allocate up to ₹200 crore from the Odisha Urban Infrastructure Development Fund (OUIDF) to enhance the ongoing LED Public Street Lighting Project in 110 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs). The funds, sourced from OUIDF’s own resources, will finance the retrofitting of outdated lighting systems with smart, energy-efficient LED fixtures, contributing to a larger initiative aimed at modernizing urban street lighting. This project not only seeks to improve illumination and public safety but also aims to reduce operational costs and ensure long-term maintenance of street lighting infrastructure. With urban areas rapidly expanding, the demand for improved street lighting has increased, prompting municipalities to request upgrades and new installations.
