Harckham Unveils New Wind/Solar Lighting Project in Cortlandt Funded by State Senate Grant

State Senator Pete Harckham announced that the Town of Cortlandt has successfully installed new wind and solar-powered lighting fixtures in the Town Hall parking lot, funded by part of the $2.3 million municipal electrification grant he secured for the 40th Senate District. Harckham emphasized the project’s benefits in enhancing efficiency and safety for residents without incurring costs to taxpayers. Town Supervisor Dr. Richard Becker expressed gratitude for the funding, noting that the LED lights provide adequate illumination and demonstrate the town’s commitment to sustainability. The fixtures, which are entirely off the grid, will also help Cortlandt maintain its Bronze Level Certification through the New York State Energy Research & Development Agency’s Climate Smart Community program.
