Historic Floodlight Installation Brightens Up Sikkim Cricket Ground

On May 18, the Sikkim Cricket Ground in Mining celebrated a significant advancement in its sporting infrastructure with the inauguration of high-mast LED floodlights, a project funded by the Sikkim government and executed by the Sikkim Cricket Association (SICA). The Rs 12.2 crore initiative enables the venue to host day-night matches and high-definition live broadcasts for the first time, featuring four 44-meter masts equipped with 256 powerful LED lights that illuminate the pitch to international standards. The inauguration was attended by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang and various dignitaries, with a friendly match showcasing the new lights’ capabilities. Additionally, preparations are underway for a potential visit from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, tentatively scheduled for May 29.
