Huawei Mobilizes Chinese AI Sector in Response to U.S. Restrictions with New Chip Model Alliance

In response to recent U.S. initiatives to curb reliance on Chinese technology, China has launched two significant alliances to bolster its AI ecosystem during the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) in Shanghai. Spearheaded by Huawei and other prominent tech firms, the Model-Chip Ecosystem Innovation Alliance aims to unite leading Chinese AI chipmakers and developers to create a cohesive technology framework. Notably, Huawei unveiled its CloudMatrix 384 system, boasting impressive computational power with 300 PFLOPs. Additionally, the Shanghai General Chamber of Commerce’s AI Committee was established to promote AI integration across industries, featuring members like SenseTime and various chip manufacturers. These moves mark China’s strategic push to enhance its domestic AI capabilities amidst ongoing U.S. sanctions.
