The Imperial Irrigation District (IID) has announced the allocation of $300,000 in public benefit funds to support 12 energy-efficient lighting projects under its new GLOW (Green Lighting for Outdoor Wellness) grant program. This initiative aims to enhance safety and sustainability across local schools and municipalities by illuminating parks, sports fields, and recreational areas. Key projects include upgrades at the City of Brawley’s Lions Center gym and Hollyhigh School’s outdoor sports complex, among others. IID Board Chairwoman Gina Dockstader emphasized the program’s commitment to community well-being, while recipients noted improvements to quality of life and energy conservation. A total of 437 LED lights will be installed, projected to save 293,378 kilowatt-hours of energy and reduce carbon emissions by 153,730 pounds annually, with all projects set for completion by December 12, 2025.
