The Imperial Irrigation District (IID) has unveiled a $300,000 award for 12 energy-efficient lighting projects across local schools and municipalities as part of its new GLOW (Green Lighting for Outdoor Wellness) grant program. This initiative aims to enhance safety and sustainability by illuminating parks, sports fields, and recreation areas within IID’s service area. Notable recipients include the City of Brawley, which will improve lighting in multiple public spaces, and the Holtville Unified School District, which will modernize facilities at Holtville High School. In total, 437 LED lights will be installed, projected to save approximately 293,378 kilowatt-hours of energy annually and reduce carbon emissions by 153,730 pounds. All projects are set to be completed by December 12, 2025.
