Illuminating the Great North with the eVinci® Microreactor

A delegation of mining and community leaders from northern Canada recently visited Westinghouse’s eVinci Microreactor Technology Hub in Pittsburgh to explore innovative nuclear solutions for the region. Led by the NWT & Nunavut Chamber of Mines, the group included representatives from notable mining companies and Indigenous communities. The tour highlighted eVinci microreactor technology as a viable alternative to diesel, offering benefits such as combined heat and power production, minimal environmental impact, and predictable energy costs. Discussions focused on the unique challenges of the Canadian North, including energy cost reduction and enhancing energy security, along with the importance of public outreach to foster support for nuclear energy. Westinghouse is committed to advancing eVinci microreactor technology in Canada, with projects set to begin in 2030.
