The Institute of Plant Production at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Pisa, Italy, has launched a new technology container to advance research in vertical farming and indoor cultivation. Developed through collaboration with C-Led and Greatit as part of the Agritech project, the “Demetra 2” isothermal container features state-of-the-art equipment capable of closely monitoring and regulating environmental factors essential for horticultural growth. With a controlled atmosphere for temperature, humidity, and light intensity, researchers can explore the responses of various crops to different cultivation conditions. Equipped with specialized sensors and a fertigation system, the facility allows for simultaneous treatment applications and remote management, making it ideal for scientific experimentation and optimizing plant growth.
