A significant wildfire, dubbed the ‘Big Rusty Wildfire,’ erupted in Hainesport, New Jersey, threatening to engulf 20 mansions as it spread across a 40-acre area. Captured footage showed the flames dangerously close to a neighborhood cul-de-sac, prompting concerns from residents like Jennifer Maffie, who expressed disbelief at the proximity of the fire. Firefighters worked tirelessly to contain the blaze, successfully protecting homes and achieving 20% containment by the end of the evening, with containment increasing to 50% by Tuesday morning. Although smoke lingered in residential areas, the fire posed reduced risk, while an investigation into its cause is underway amidst ongoing dry conditions that have led to over 530 wildfires in the region since October.
